Call on Governor Walz to Declare an Eviction Moratorium

CTA Name: Call on Governor Walz to Declare an Eviction Moratorium

Date of Action Hour: Tuesday, February 10 2026

Explainer (describe the issue):  Thousands of immigrant neighbors have had their livelihoods disrupted due to the threat of abduction by DHS agents. This has seriously impaired their financial condition, making it difficult if not impossible to stay current on their monthly housing costs. Removing the threat of eviction so that families can stay in their homes while the threat of ICE detention remains so high - especially in a bitterly cold winter - is a critical measure that must be taken without delay. Furthermore, emergency financial assistance must be provided to cover housing costs, so that the stability of their housing can be maintained.

Call to Action (what specific action are we taking):  Governor Walz has the unique authority to declare an emergency that would allow him to impose an eviction moratorium. The cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, and more than 70 organizations, have called on the Governor to enact this moratorium.
