WE’RE CALLING IT “AN ELECTION LIKE NO OTHER”
We are living through one of the most consequential moments in our country’s history. The fate of our democracy is on the line. Time is running out to save it.
Authoritarians and their wealthy enablers are rapidly expanding their ability to crush our democratic institutions. Political opponents are demonized; the Press is attacked as “fake news” or “the enemy”; Law enforcement is politicized; and The executive branch is elevated above all other branches of government, undermining checks and balances and concentrating power in the Presidency
We are in the stage some experts call “Authoritarian Consolidation”; others call it “Competitive Authoritarianism”. They have not yet consolidated their control, but they are trying.
By packing the judiciary, neutering checks and balances, altering electoral districts, requesting voter roles and a host of attempts to block voting, the Republican Party is trying to insulate itself from losing power in the upcoming election.
The time to take back power is now. If we do not take power back from the authoritarians in the 2026 election, the opportunity to meaningfully halt this process becomes exceedingly more difficult.
This midterm election matters more than any other we have faced in our lifetimes, perhaps in our country’s history.
Learn about how Indivisible Twin Cities is working to take back power - our opportunity and our responsibility. progressive policies at the city, state and national level. We encourage civic engagement by organizing informative actions and events to spotlight issues and candidates who support our values of strengthening our democracy and defeating the MAGA authoritarian agenda.

Indivisible Twin Cities, a local chapter of national Indivisible, is building a peaceful and nonviolent movement of citizens dedicated to increasing civic engagement, committed to dismantling authoritarianism, and supporting a nation where housing is affordable, healthcare is a guaranteed right, elections are fair, justice is upheld, and people are free. Together, we strive to create inclusive, thriving communities and a healthy democracy.
Indivisible Twin Cities believes in and defends democracy. We recognize the corrosive dangers authoritarianism has unleashed that threaten the pillars of our democracy:
● Universities that have silenced free speech on campus
● Corporations that have abandoned once common DEI policies
● Media that self-censor and no longer include editorials or unbiased coverage
● Courts that safeguard the rights of the rich and powerful instead of the rights of all
We believe in the power of people organizing a peaceful nonviolent movement to uplift the rights of all, not just the rich and powerful
We believe in a nation and communities where housing is affordable, healthcare is a guaranteed right, elections are fair, justice is for all, and people are free to speak, protest, vote, live and love as they choose
-
On a large scale, everything we do is contributing to building a non-violent and peaceful movement, sustained over time (as long as it takes) that will in the short term defeat the MAGA regime, and in the long term position is for communities where We employ a variety of tactics:

Everyone is welcome - whether you consider yourself a “member” of ITC or not!
Rebecca and I, as co-leaders of ITC, would like to thank each and every one of our amazing, dedicated volunteers and leaders. Those who have been with us since the beginning offer experience and institutional knowledge that keeps the organization focused on why we do this work in the first place. Those who have joined us over the past year have brought new ideas, new experiences and new voices to our cause and have added a vibrancy that inspires us all.
Let's be honest, 2025 was a new kind of awful. 2026 will not be easy. We will stay the course and keep fighting for the future and common good of all of us.
Lisa Erbes, Indivisible Twin Cities Co-leader with Rebecca Larson
