Call to Action: Tamarack Mining Project
The MN Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is inviting public comments to help "scope" the upcoming Environmental Impact Statement for the Talon (Tamarack) Mining Project in Aitkin County — our only chance to shape what gets studied before it's too late. A thorough Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is critical to understanding how far the underground mine could expand, which wetlands may be damaged or drained, and how the project could affect climate change, Tribal resources, and human health.
The deadline for submitting comments is Monday, September 14th.
Use this form to submit a comment directly to the DNR. (Use the Water Legacy website for suggested comments and talking points, OR submit your comments on the website by September 11 at 9 am, and they will be submitted to the DNR).

Verify Your Voter Registration
Indivisible Twin Cities is encouraging everyone to check their voter status prior to the November 3rd Midterm Election. Simply go to MNVotes.gov to verify your status. There are 3 reasons you might need to re-register:
You have moved since the last election - even if you simply move within the same building
You have changed your name
You have not voted in 4 years or more
To re-register you will need to provide identification. MNVotes.gov lists all the documents you can use to register.
NOTE: If you have verified your registration status, you do not need to bring identification when you vote.

Call to Action: Comment on Anti-DEI Accreditations
Last month, in a devious effort to enforce its anti-DEI policies on all institutions of higher education, the Trump administration proposed changes to how colleges and universities are accredited—part of a broader push to enforce anti-DEI policies on higher education. The new rule would open accreditation to inexperienced agencies more likely to comply with the administration's restrictive demands, and would explicitly bar DEI programs from accreditation standards. Because accreditation determines which schools qualify for federal grants and loans and where students can attend, losing it would cut off student loans and devalue degrees—putting every college and university at risk, including the University of Minnesota, Minnesota state colleges, and private colleges.
