Early Voting
If you haven't already voted, there's still time to vote early before the August 11th primary. To find out where to vote and what's on your local ballot, visit the MN Secretary of State website.
No ICE Concentration Camp in Minnesota!
Indivisible Twin Cities is working in coalition with several organizations and Appleton residents to oppose the opening of a private prison, owned by CoreCivic, to house up 1,300 detainees, which will double the population of Appleton. We have heard how horrible conditions are at other facilities operated by CoreCivic and GEO Group. We do not want this in Appleton, Swift County or, indeed, the entire state of Minnesota.
Here are a couple of ways you can get involved:
Donate: The coalition is in need of funds to pay for the awareness campaign. If you are able, please make a donation to help us pay for supplies, billboards, leaflets, printing, etc.
Protest: Local residents hold weekly protests every Thursday to raise awareness in their community about the ICE facility from 5:00 - 6:30 pm at the Flags of Honor site, Highway 7/59, Appleton, MN.
Contact Your Senator: Vote ‘No’ on CLARITY Act
Even if you’re sure your senators will vote against the act, contact them with your support for a “no” vote to strengthen their efforts to oppose the bill. The vote may occur any time between now and August 7. Republicans need 60 votes for the CLARITY Act to pass; let’s keep that from happening. (Use democracy.io to write to both your senators at the same time.) Read ITC's Substack for a complete explainer.
Neighbor2Neighbor: Get Out The Vote
