Safety of all our rally participants and surrounding community are front of mind. While we can't share all details (for security reasons), we can share that we have many experienced and trained marshals trained in de-escalation on site, and an extensive safety plan in place.

The organizers of this event are committed to peaceful and non-violent action, no civil disobedience, and to the promise of freedom of speech and freedom of assembly that is written into the Constitution. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.

Should you encounter any individual(s) looking to stir things up or act violently, we ask that you do not engage and that you contact the nearest marshal.

A note on signs: While we encourage signs and banners, for the safety of this event, we ask that you do not bring signs mounted on sticks or any object that could be interpreted or used as a weapon.

Here are some handy tips for attending the event

DRESS FOR THE WEATHER

• Come rain or shine, the rally will go on. Minnesota weather means conditions can change quickly. So dress in layers and wear comfy shoes you can stand in for a few hours.

PACK LIGHT

• Make it easy on yourself, and leave large bags at home.

• Bring a fully-charged phone

• Bring your I.D. and one credit/debit card. Keep it in a secure pocket

• Bring a water bottle and/or light snack. There will be no food service at the event.

BRING A SIGN

• Do not put your signs on a stick (for safety concerns).

• Do Not Bring Chalk or Stickers: please don’t bring chalk or any other writing or marking material to write on the sidewalk or other surface along the march route. Our volunteers are responsible for removing all markings at the end of the event, and washing away markings is a hard task that is easily avoided.

Accessibility is a key to ensuring all community members are able to participate in this event. Here are a couple key things to know:

• Unfortunately there will be NO accessible seating available at the rally (we will not be supplying extra chairs). There are a number of park benches, but these will not be marked as reserved for ADA (first come/first served).

• American Sign Language interpretation will be provided at the event during the rally program.

• If you are participating in the march through downtown Minneapolis, we recommend those using mobility equipment or strollers to proceed along the sidewalks on the route.

• If you are not participating in the march itself, we welcome you to bring a lawn chair, a sign, and cheer on the marchers. There will be no program after the marches leave, but they will be returning to The Commons at the end.

• We will have ADA accessible port-a-potties at The Commons.

• The closest spot for an easy drop off before the rally will be near Portland Ave and S 3rd Street.

PUBLIC TRANSIT
To help make purchasing tickets easy, especially when LRT platforms are crowded, we encourage potential transit users to download the Metro Transit app.

BUS PARKING & QUESTIONS
If your group is planning to bring a bus to No Kings 2 at The Commons, we need you to fill out our bus parking form in order to help us plan accordingly. We will email you the drop-off, pick-up and parking information as soon as it is available. Bus Parking Form. The deadline to fill out this form is Friday, October 17 at 12PM CT.

Yes! There will be port-a-potties (including ADA accessible versions) available at the No Kings Twin Cities Rally! Look for them in the 4 corners of the park. What a relief!

This rally will happen rain or shine, so dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear allowing you to stay comfortable for up to three hours.

Pack It In; Pack It Out
To show our commitment to the environment, we are striving for a zero-waste event. If you bring it, please remove it and recycle/compost. There are no trash receptacles available at the rally site. 

To make this a safe event for all participants and for your pet’s safety, please leave pets at home. We love pets but with big crowds, noise and Minnesota weather, this may be a challenging environment for them and not all cultures have the same comfort level with animals. Of course, service animals are welcome.
