HANDS OFF! FAQs
-
Safety of all our rally participants and surrounding community are front of mind. While we can't share all details (for security reasons), we can share that we're proactively communicating with Capitol Security, and State Patrol. We'll also have many experienced event marshals trained in de-escalation on site.
Should you encounter any individual(s) looking to stir things up or act violently, we ask that you do not engage and that you contact the nearest marshal, de-escalation specialist, or, in the case of emergency, dial 911.
A note on signs: While we encourage signs and banners, for the safety of this event, we ask that you do not bring signs mounted on sticks or any object that could be interpreted or used as a weapon. -
Due to the large crowd expected at the event, we highly encourage carpooling and taking public transportation.
PUBLIC TRANSIT
METRO Green Line has three convenient stations serving the Capitol Complex: Capitol/Rice Street, Robert Street and 10th Street stations. There are also bus routes that serve the area, plan your trip using the helpful tools on the Metro Transit website or call the Transit Information Center at (612) 373-3333 and they can design a route tailored to your transportation needs.
PARKING
Parking will be difficult, so we strongly encourage carpooling with your friends and family who are also attending the march. There are a number of public parking options for those visiting the State Capitol Complex. Parking maps can be found on the State of Minnesota's website and includes parking information for those with disabilities and bike parking information.

Accessibility is a key to ensuring all community members are able to participate in this event. Here are a couple key things to know:
An ADA section will be located directly in front of the stage and will be open to those who require it on a first come, first served basis.
American Sign Language interpretation will be provided at the Capitol during the program and located by the accessible seating area
An ADA drop-off/pick-up area is located at Cedar Street and Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard at the Aurora Promenade.
Wheelchair accessible portable toilets will be available in 4 locations around the site. Accessible toilets are also available inside the Minnesota Capitol from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM.

-
Pack It In; Pack It Out

Here are some handy tips for attending the event
DRESS FOR THE WEATHER
Come rain or shine, the rally will go on. It’s early April, which means conditions can change quickly. So dress in layer and wear comfy shoes you can stand in for a few hours
PACK LIGHT
Make it easy on yourself, and leave large bags at home.
Bring a fully-charged phone
Bring your I.D. and one credit/debit card. Keep it in a secure pocket
Bring a water bottle and/or light snack. There will be no food service at the event.
BRING A SIGN
Make your own sign or download and print one here.
Do not put your signs on a stick (for safety concerns).
-
To make this a safe event for all participants and for your pet’s safety, please leave pets at home. We love pets but with big crowds, noise and Minnesota weather, this may be a challenging environment for them and not all cultures have the same comfort level with animals. Of course, service animals are welcome.
-
Due to an expected large crowd size, there will be NO tents or tabling allowed except by event organizers. We will have two areas for large banners: one for event partners, and another for non-event parnters. Both will be in high-visibility areas. If you are bringing large banners, please check in at the Partner/Sponsor table near the capitol steps when you arrive.
