Protect MN from lawless ICE Actions
On Monday, May 11, the Minnesota Senate passed the ICE Accountability and Justice bill, on a 34-33 vote.
That bill is in response to the chaos and brutality Minnesota experienced during the ICE surge.
The bill:
Prohibits detentions at child care centers, hospitals and clinics, courthouses, schools of all types, and courthouses from unlawful immigration raids;
Extends an existing ban on the use of masks to include federal immigration enforcement agents;
Establishes a right for Minnesotans to seek monetary damages for violations of our constitutional and civil rights by federal agents;
Requires the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to investigate cases involving the killing of Minnesota residents by federal agents operating in the state;
Requires a duty to intervene so that law enforcement helps people who are injured once any threat has been neutralized.
The ban in item #1 would codify in Minnesota state law what had been federal practice until this current federal administration took over.
For this bill to become law, the Minnesota House of Representatives must also pass it. It will not be easy. That is why our outreach is necessary.

Do whatever it takes to get the House to pass a companion to Senate File 3699. Bring legality and justice back to immigration enforcement.
